Abstract:

This full-day masterclass provides a comprehensive, prosthetically-focused roadmap for achieving predictable success across the spectrum of implant dentistry. The program addresses the critical clinical decisions and techniques required for both single-tooth esthetics and complex full arch rehabilitation.

The session begins by dissecting the challenges of the esthetic zone, focusing on prosthetic principles for ideal 3D implant positioning, abutment selection (custom vs. stock), provisionalization strategies for soft tissue sculpting, and material choices to ensure lifelike emergence profiles and mucosal integration.

The discussion then transitions to managing the edentulous patient, highlighting the two-implant-supported mandibular overdenture as the standard of care. Attendees will review the rationale, essential selection criteria, and the precise prosthetic workflow, from final impressions to attachment selection and pick-up. This foundation is expanded to full-arch implant rehabilitation, covering treatment planning, establishing the A-P spread, fixed vs. removable options, and framework design for durable, predictable restorations.

A dedicated segment will analyze implant occlusion, contrasting it with natural dentition and establishing principles to prevent undue stress on components and crestal bone. Finally, the presentation will provide practical, step-by-step guidance on identifying, preventing, and managing common prosthetic complications, including screw loosening, material fracture, and peri-implant factors, ensuring clinicians can maintain long-term functional and esthetic outcomes.

Objectives for Full-Day Presentation

1. Implant Esthetics and Esthetic Zone Management (Prosthetic Focus): Evaluate the prosthetic principles, materials, and techniques necessary for achieving predictable and highly aesthetic implant restorations in the esthetic zone.

2. Mandibular Overdenture Therapy: Explain the rationale for, and outline the prosthetic steps involved in, fabricating a successful two-implant-supported mandibular overdenture, including essential patient management.

3. Full Arch Implant-Supported Cases: Analyze the treatment planning and prosthetic protocols for successful full-arch fixed and removable implant-supported restorations.

4. Implant Occlusion: Understand the fundamental principles of occlusion as they apply to implant-supported prostheses to ensure longevity and prevent complications.

5. Prosthetic Complications: Learn to identify, prevent, and manage common prosthetic complications associated with various types of implant restorations.
